Rincon Hill Dog Park

Rincon Hill Dog Park is a fenced, community-run dog park at 486 Beale Street, tucked at the base of the Bay Bridge in the East Cut. The former Caltrans parcel was a surface parking lot until neighbors launched a beautification effort in 2007 and turned it into one of the few off-leash spaces serving the high-rise residents of Rincon Hill and SoMa.

Terrain & Layout

The park is split into two fenced sections — one for large dogs and one for small dogs — so smaller pups can play without getting overwhelmed. It sits beneath the Bay Bridge approach, giving it a distinctly urban feel.

Amenities

  • Seating: Benches in both sections
  • Water: Water stations for dogs
  • Parking: Limited street parking; most visitors walk from nearby buildings
  • Hours: Open daily, 7am to 9pm

Best For

Downtown, East Cut, and SoMa residents who need a convenient, secure off-leash spot close to home. The separate small dog area makes it a good choice for little dogs.

Busy Times

Weekday mornings before work and evenings after work are the busiest, when residents of the surrounding towers bring their dogs out. Midday is calmer.

Tips

  • The park is supported by volunteers and maintained by The East Cut Community Benefit District — please clean up after your dog
  • Expect some traffic noise from the Bay Bridge overhead
  • Rincon Park on the Embarcadero is nearby for a leashed waterfront walk
