The Rocks Dog Park

The Rocks Dog Park is a small, fenced off-leash area on Yerba Buena Island at 120 Yerba Buena Road. Terraced into the steep slope between Macalla Road and Yerba Buena Road next to Infinity Point, it was dedicated as a public park in 2023 and is one of the newest dog parks in San Francisco.

Terrain & Layout

The park is built on two levels. The upper level is reached from Yerba Buena Road, with stairs or a sloped walkway leading down to the lower level. Its design uses salvaged native rock, reclaimed eucalyptus wood, and native plants, and boulders create slopes and nooks for dogs to explore.

Amenities

  • Seating: Rocks and natural features
  • Water: Bring your own
  • Parking: No on-site parking
  • Hours: Open daily; posted rules apply

Best For

Island residents and visitors looking for a secure, characterful space for a short play session. Dogs who enjoy climbing and sniffing around rocks will love the terraced design.

Busy Times

The park mainly serves the island's growing residential community, so it's rarely crowded. Expect the most activity in the mornings and early evenings.

Tips

  • There's no on-site parking, so plan to walk or take the Treasure Island shuttle or bus
  • The terraced layout has stairs — the sloped walkway is the easier route for older dogs
  • Report any damage via SF 311
  • Pair it with a visit to the Treasure Island Dog Park on the main island for more space
