Stern Grove Dog Park

Stern Grove Dog Park, nestled within the 63-acre Stern Grove recreation area, offers a unique forest setting dominated by towering eucalyptus, pine, and redwood trees planted in the 1800s. The off-leash area spans approximately 4 acres and includes natural streams that flow during winter months. The park's microclimate, protected by the surrounding forest, often provides sunny refuge when other parts of the Sunset District are foggy. The ground cover varies seasonally, from grassy in spring to pine-needle covered in fall. The park connects to the larger Pine Lake Park trail system, offering extended walking routes. During the summer Stern Grove Festival (June-August), the dog area may have limited access on concert Sundays. The park is particularly peaceful during early morning hours and weekdays.
